Xmas Shopping=))
Well I have not bought one thing yet for Christmas, every year I say the same thing, I will finish all my shopping atleast 2 weeks before the day arrives=)). Well so much for that! The worse part is that my daughters, ages 22 an 15, have not asked for anything. So I now have to use my brain and try to figure out what to get my 2 monsters! I know the little one wants to go see Justin Beiber in January, but besides that I have no idea. My oldest probably wants money, which I think is a very impersonal gift. Idk, I figure I will finish up my last week here and then concentrate on my longggggg shopping list!

Great Weekend=))
I had a great weekend with my daughter and 2 good friends. We went out and had a way overdue girls night out. Marina, her sister Angel, and my oldest went dancing. It was nice to go out and have girl talk and just relax. It was a great atmosphere, we were in dowtown PGA. The weather was awesome, the music was pumping and the drinks were AWSOME! We got home at 4:30am and yesterday was a day of recovery. I am ready to do it again, it was the perfect therapy I needed after the brutal past couple of months between school and work. The worse part of the night was that I no longer have a voice because of all the screaming we were doing=))

English III
When I walk away from English Comp III I will think about finding a thesis statement in any and all documents I create. This class was very different from any other class I had ever attended. I liked how Professor Hamon allowed us to think and compose on the computer with an ease of time. He did not babysit us like alot of the other teachers here ay South feel they are here to do. It shows that he has faith in us as students to complete the tasks that we are assigned to do. Although we like his input in all that we do, its because we value his opinion as a professor=))
THANK YOU PROFESSOR HAMON!!!

English Comp III
I am still learning how to perfect a paper for an assignment. I think my APA format has improved since last semester and I feel more comfortable doing peer reviews for others since I have had alot of experiece in reading my paper as well as those of in my class and even some from other classes. I know this is my last English class required for my degree but I am confident that I can help my kids and neices/nephews when it is their turn=))

What I've learned in class.
During this semester, I have learned how people take advantage of Professor Hamon's kindness. I am disappointed that at a college level this is the caliber of the student body. I guess last semester the standard was set high and this semester was just a complete disappointment. Honestly, I did not like coming to class because I was constantly annoyed by the whining and complaints of others, it's like middle and high school bundled up in one. So what I learned initially was to weed out the slackers and keep my distance=))

Doc 3 Post 3
Well i started my Doc 3 yesterday, and because it is such an interesting topic to me, i am actually enjoying it. Althought the data and things I am reading are really sad and disturbing, it just makes my point even more important to address. I know not all college students have pets, but I know for a fact they know someone that does. So maybe after reading my paper, they might actually step up and help save the life of a furry friend=))

Doc 3 Post II
I have decided to do my Doc 3 on the benefits of spaying and neutering. Besides my daughters, my dogs are my passion and have captured my heart. I can not even watch commercials of the dogs that need to be adopted in leiu of being killed. I think it is gross the abuse that animals attain at the hands of their owners. I do not think the laws are strict enough on this issue. In my house, our dogs are part of the family and they are treated with respect and love. We have way too many unwanted pets today and spaying and neutering will help control that issue=))

Doc 3 Post 1
Well Doc 3 is going to be about authority. Where does it coming from in English writing? Knowledge and expertism. I am not sure exactly how I am going to put this paper together but after Professor Hamon's lecture, I have a few ideas. I am going to take the evening to go over the criteria=)) I am sad to say this will be my last Doc that I write for Professor Hamon. I am not sure if I have to take any other English classes in my school ventures but I know whatever teacher I encounter will not compare to him=))

My baby got her braces off=))
So the highlight of my day yesterday was when my baby got her braces off! She had them on for 2 years and 2 days, she was so excited. She has been waiting for this day forever, in her words. My oldest had braces too and I remember the day she had her braces taken off too. These are milestone days in the lifes of my children and Iam so happy to be apart of each one of them=)) What I did not like was the remaining balance I have to pay before they removed them.....OUCH!

Finally, election day has arrived
What I am going to be very happy about, is the ads on TV and radio, will DISAPPEAR!!! It's to the point where I know the words because I hear it them so much. I hope everyone took the time to vote for the candidate they wanted. I took my oldest, for the first time and it was another milestone in her life that I was proud to share=)). I will be glued to the TV all night awaiting the results of the election. That being said....TEAM ROMNEY/RYAN 2012=))

I'm leaving South=))
So I made a decision to leave South last week, for a school that I pay so much money I really thought I would get alot more than the school has given. I think the politics and economics of South are as corrupt as the people in Washington. It's a shame not all teachers are like Professor Hamon and Professor Rose, I know universities have to make money but I refuse to continue to contribute to the cause. The funny thing is that the more I tell people I am leaving, their response is "me too" LOL=))

Doc 2 Cloud Services
I have begun my paper on Cloud Services after trying to narrow down which one I liked best. I am going to choose Google Drive because it helps me with my memory loss=/. It is interesting to find out that there is alot of inforamtion available about Cloud Services that I probably would have never found out about if Professor Hamon had not shown it to me. I have introduced this service to my daughters and nieces for their future references while in high school and college. Thanks Professor Hamon for this awesome useful tool=)

Doc 2 Preparation
I have finally startes to put my thoughts together for Doc 2 for Cloud Services. I have never used Google for anything other than searches. I really enjoy Google Drive and I am going to write my paper on how helpful it is. This is going to be a different type of document for me, but I sure I will enjoy it in the end. I feel like we havent read any stories this semester yet, feels odd. Good Luck to everyone else and let's begin the joys of The Cloud Services=))

My girls=))
I have to say that I have been taking the time on the weekends to spend time with my girls. There are 7 and 1/2 years apart but when they get together they are hilarious. I am very lucky to be able to hang out with them, my oldest will eventually leave one day (she's almost 22 yrs. old). I know I should be home studying and perfecting my classes, but my kids are my number one priority and the books can wait. I seriously look forward to my weekends and real hate that they go by so fast. I could go on and on about my girls but I will end the post by saying " I LOVE MY GIRLS" and I am a very lucky mom=))

Doc 2 Suggestion
Well my suggestion for Doc 2 would be to write a literay analysis about a really good story. The political paper drove me crazy and it was amazing to read the crap that people were saying. Ignorance is bliss!!! I enjoyed doing my paper last term because I was able to give my opinion of the importance of the story. I am hearing some rumor about the next paper being about some cloud opinion...WTF is that?

Peer Review
I'm not very fond of the peer review process, I do not like to critique others and they find it offensive. Then you have people that English is not their first language and the mistakes they are pointing out is incorrect. I honestly only care what Professor Hamon thinks about our paper and his opinion is the only one that I value. However, I entertain the review from others because Professor Hamon asked me to. At the end of the assignment, i will only alter my paper if he feels that I need to=))

English III
English class is out of control!!! I have to say that after A&P II starting at 8:30am and all the long lectures and lab, coming into English is a breath of fresh air. The class is very different from English II. I am looking forward to spending more time with some of the new people that are in the class. We are doing the first group paper and I find the look of fear amusing. I will miss not having any more English classes here at South. Maybe I will drag everyone to the other class Hamon is teaching, so that he doesnt get bored=))

Doc 1 Presidential Paper
We have been given our first paper in English III and it's about politics. I think this will be interesting since I have 3 additional people in my group and we are divided....2 for Obama, 2 for Romney. I know these 3 young ladies and I value their opinion and passion for their issue. I do not understand why people get so upset about presidential candidates, they are humans, no different then us, they lie, deceive and will say anything to get your vote. That being said, I hope Doc 1 brings to light the facts on the issues and that way when people go to vote, they might actually have some knowledge of the affects that casting their vote will have. I will be watching the 2nd presidential debate tonight, I like to hear from both candidates without teleprompters or notes. It's an open forum tonight so hopefully the average American will ask all the right questions=))

VP Presidential Debate
I watched the VP Presidential debate last week and I have to say that it was a draw. It honestly did not change my mind about my decision. Neither candidate clarified the issues for me so I am looking forward to the next debate tomorrow night. I can say that Ryan looked very nervous and Biden was very disrespectful. As adults we were taught to have respect for someone as they are speaking and not laugh in their face. On that note, my mind has not being changed and my candidate continues to be Mitt Romney. I am very concerned about the issues and lies about the attack on the American Ambassador, so therefore I will look at tomorrow's debate with great interest.

Not in the mood!
I am tired and cold and would love to be able to go home after this class but unfortunately I have to go to work=/
No free time=/
I am really having a hard time adjusting to the classes I signed up for this semester. My summer classes were very easy and did not take alot of effort on my part. I am here all 4 days, I normally take online classes to ease the workload and my schedule, but somehow things got screwed up and I am here way tooooo long.
Between school, work and my kid's schedule, I feel that I have no time for fun. I havent had a girls night in awhile and thats a huge problem for me. I like my free time with my friends and I usually need several days to recooperate but it's so worth it in the end=)) So I am basically just venting, I will get over it anf do what I have to do. Thanks for listening=))

Presidential Post II
Every 4 years we have to make an important decision in this country. We are less than a month away from deciding what is best for our self, our families and our country. This race is important to me because I am a small business owner, a single parent with 2 kids, 1 child in college, and a non traditional student myself. I have voted for many presidents and I can compare in a non partisan position the efforts and advances some of our presidents have accomplished. I am not convinced that our current president has the answers or the interest in fixing all that is wrong with this country in this present day. I can not say with 100% certainty that his opponent can fix everything but I am willing to give him a try, many times new ideas and insight help turn things around. That being said, I am voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Presidential Post I
I know politics is a topic not many people like to talk about. On a personal level, I am very interested in the election this year as a single mom and small business owner. I do not pay attention to any of the televsions ads from either side. I was watching the debate last week and will watch the other 3, including the vice presidential debate this Thursday evening. I vote on the issues that I am mostly concerned with, I think of my future as well as my mom and children. Some people think that one vote will not make a difference but I firmly believe it does. That being said, November 6th, my oldest daughter and I will do our part as Americans and vote=))

Comp 3
Well I am back in Professor Hamon's English class for Comp. 3. I look forward to working with some of the students from last semester and some new ones as well. I lost one of my old partners, but I retained my good friend Marina and Renee, so I'm happy=)). I hope Professor Hamon is just as delightful and understanding as last semester with his assignments. That being said, lets get this show on the road and begin this class so that December gets here quicker.

Wordle
Well I learned that in my wordle I talked about my two partners in crime, Marina & Dionne.
It also mentioned August which is the month that I blogged the most. Apparently I like to blog in the afternoon and i wrote mostly about poems. This wordle collage was cute and it is amazing how Google has so many differenttools that help us with writing. Kudos to Professor Hamon and his knowledge and the insight to share with us.

Doc 3 Part II
Well last night I finished up my Doc 3 but only to satisfy the main points I needed, I know it needs more work and I am hoping Professor Hamon allows us to work on it in class. There are several things I need him to help me with. After a lengthy conversation with him, I have decided to drop one of my poems because he says I have to have a connection with the three authors. Although I enjoyed "The Colonel" it depicts a man's world and the author is just a spectator. With that being said, I definitely have more work to do......CRAP!!!

Doc 3 Part I
I have begun my Doc 3 and it is difficult to try to find the analysis of the poems from my point of view. I chose the poems, Wishes for my sons, In the waiting room and The Colonel. I did not think I could find 1500 words on just one poem so I thought to divide it, thinking that would be the answer. Well. let's just say, it's a work in progress and I hope Professor Hamon is sipping on some expensive wine while he is grading our papers. These woman had some serious issues that they wrote about, so I hope to be able to dissect these poems from my point of view, a woman with serious issues herself =)

When it rains it pours
Well I hope everyone is safe and all went well with this annoying storm Isaac. I live in Boynton Beach where there was a record 15inces of rain that fell. Although my house is ready for any force of nature(within reason), I find it to be stressful. I have 2 girls and 4 dogs to make sure I prepare for.My business needs to be secured beacuse of all the electronical machinery inside and I have to take care of my mom's needs and my aunt's ( I am her legal guardian) needs. What I didn't anticipate was getting sick in the midst of all the preparation. I have been sick since Friday night. I have not been sick in over a year and I hate not feeling 100%. I could have had a few peaceful days of just sitting around the house watching movies with my girls, but of course it didn't work out for me. I was in my bed (I didn't want to get them sick) on the other side of the house all alone=(. Oh well, atleast things are getting back to normal and hopefully this head cold that I have will go away with Isaac=)

Doc 3 Decison
Well as I read the poems last night, again, I have narrowed it down to 3 that I really like. When I reviewed the criteria that our esteemed professor gave us and it is going to require some dissecting of these poems.
I think this is going to be my biggest challenge because in poems there is so much that is hidden and I have to re read the poem several times to understand the author's symbolism. So that being said, I have a lot of work ahead of me=/

Preparing for Doc 3
I enoyed most of the poems, they were written by 20th century female poets. I have to admit that they were abit difficult to understand. Once I had a better understanding of the poems, they were pretty depressing.
It goes to demonstrate that women in that era went through alot of suffering, both mentally and physically.
I am sure most guys will not appreciate these poems because they can not relate. I have 3 poems in mind that I am going to use for my Doc 3. The main theme to me is blood and anguish that women experience, back then and today.

My daughter's freshman 1st day=))
Today is my youngest daughter's first day of high school. The summer was very hectic with my school and her social calendar and trying to work to get her ready for her freshman year. I'm EXHAUSTED!!! I have been to the Wellington Mall 3 times, Boynton Mall 2 times and the Boca Town Center Mall once. Looking for the outfit she has in her mind? We got a haircut, mani/pedi and then last night we were rating her outfits as she modeled for us. Although I'm mentally & physically tired, I am very happy to have been able to provide all the things she wanted to help make her 1st day of high school a success!!! So to all the single parents out there that can relate.....Let's give ourselves a round of applause=))

My personal symbol
The symbol that means the world to me would have to be a truck that I have in my closet. Inside the trunk it consists of all of my daughter's memorabilia from the day they were born, to the present including all elementary drawings and rewards, pictures, first shoes, a lock of their hair=). I also have several items from my father, after his death. I always thinkthat if a fire or other natural disaster were to occur, I would grab that trunk because everything inside of it has meaning and sentimental value to me. This is the one thing that money can not replace=))

My mom's symbol
When I go to visit my mom, I always find myself entering her bedroom so that I can see the centerpiece of my mom and dad's wedding cake. My dad passed away almost 13 years ago and I know my mom misses him as much as I do. Although it has faded and chipped a bit (back then they were not made out of plastic), every time I see it, it reminds me of the love and life they shared. It's a bittersweet moment, I know when my mom passes away, I will cherish that centerpiece and find a place for it in my home.

THE LIBRARY AT SOUTH
I am going to vent, I thought the library was a place to go and be able to concentrate. I came in this morning at 8am to finish some assignments. I have never encountered such rudeness, it has turned into a social hour, a place to talk about the weekend, current events and complain about school. I gave lots of looks of disapproval but since they are obviously ignorant, they didn't catch my frustation. If i spoke my mind, I would probably get kicked out. So if the library is no longer a place of peace and quiet, then where? Oh and the librarian was of no help either, they were in the back office giggling and catching up from the weekend. Not a good way to start my week!

Literary Voice
The voice is very important because it sets the mood, tone and they way the story or poem is going to be delivered. Every author/narrator have a unique method of delivery through voice. It is essential in the literary world to analyze and summarize writings. I liked Professor Hamon's voice when he delivers his weekly online lectures. It's not dull or monotone=)

Trifles
Trifles was a cute play. This was about a dead canary. The townspeople were a bit odd. You have the male driven egos and the female who's wisdom were underminded simple because of their gender. The men are pompous and that makes the woman feel defensive and form a group against the detectives and hide evidence. They steal the box with the dead bird as an act of defiance against this male dominated society.

Not a happy Poster/Blogger
As many of you might be familiar with online classes here at South University, a big part of your grade is posting to two or more of your classmates about their topic. This is very similar to this class. Well I apparently confused my posting & blogging in this class with my online Psychology class. I forgot to post on one of my assignments in Psychology and my grade suffered for it. Of course I emailed the teacher immediately when she brought it to my attention, but her response was "too bad" that assignment week is closed. You gotten love that response, I was willing to do any extra assignment to make up the points I missed by confusion. So now I have to remind myself which class I blogged and posted and the days and times already done and still need to do and for which class. Needless to say.... I'm NOT a happy blogger today, I have one more assignment due in Psychology, before she submits the final grade, what should have been an A, will now more than likely be a B.

Favorite Genre
I love romance movies, if I find the time, I go through my netflix and watch as many romance movies that I can. My favorite all time movie is "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks. I can watch that movie over and over again. I guess because life is so stressful it is my escape from reality and it allows me to go to a happy place for atleast 90 minutes. It can be a tear jerker or a comedy, it doesn't matter, as long as at the end "they lived happily ever after" happens. I'm a romantic at heart, I will saw I have mimiced a few scenes in my personal relationship with excellent results....IJS=)

Hills Like White Elephants
This story had a lot of hidden messages. After discussing it in class yesterday I had a much better understanding of it. It talks about the topic of abortion, which even in today's society it is not accepted unless under certain circumstances. I thought the guy was a jerk in that he didn't put any importance in her feelings and tried to dismiss the possible of an complications that can occur during the "operation" as he so mildly put it. As a mother of two, it is a life altering decision to have a care for a child. However, it is my body and my choice and I would never allow any man to make such a life altering decision for me. Let alone minimize the facts of such a important event (which ever one chooses).

My mini vacation
I was able to take my 14 year old daughter to Busch Gardens this past weekend. Since this school has the attendance policy that I do not agree with, I was only able to go for a few days. We had a great time, I rode all the roller coasters and did not feel like throwing up, that was awesome!!!! I wish the school's vacation would be at the same time as public schools to help us parents be able to be students and parents without either one having to take a backseat.

A Rose for Emily
This story just goes to show that regardless of what era we live in, it's all the same. People gossiped about this woman when she was alive and then went to her home after her death to gossip some more. Society can be very cruel and harsh. This was a lonely woman who wanted to be left alone and bothered no one but the busy bodies had to make it there business what she did and didn't do and with whom. No different today. unfortunately =(.

Things I Carry Everyday
The things I carry everyday would be my purse and cell phone. I'm not one to have alot of stuff in my purse, only the essentials (wallet, lip gloss, and keys). My cell phone is important because it is my main source of communication with my daughters. I need to be able to hear it or see it (if on vibrate) every second of the day. I am a single parent, so the first and only call they are going to make is to me=))

Peer Review Process
I think the peer review process is important, it allows us to be able to fix and correct any issues with our papers before turning them in for a final grade. I hope no one takes it personal when their paper is being analyzed, we are not professors and it is all done in a positive manner. I am happy to be able to fix my errors prior to turning in my final draft.

When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine
I found it interesting that both cultures although different are very similar. I am from a Hispanic ethnic background and therefore I am very familiar with our culture. What I enjoy about this short story was the new information that I learned about the Muslim and India culture. Sometimes it important to hear and understand the trials and tribulations of others in order to appreciate what we have.

When Mr. Pirzada Came To Dine
I enjoyed this story, it was very descriptive. I thought the fact that he wanted to take the girls trick or treating for fear of their safety was sweet, he had just worked all day and walked to their house. I'm sure he was tired but still he was concerned. He took an interest in a tradition that was not his own, when he wanted to help carve the pumpkin also.

Group Writing Process
I like the group writing process, it is nice to be able to work with Dionne and Marina. I think 3 minds are better than 1 and 3 different points of view. It can be alittle more nerve racking because there are people who are depending on me to turn in an assignment on time. It is also a paper that is being shared with them so if I have an odd thought or opinion, I have just shared it with them.

Metaphors
I enjoyed the poem Metaphors. It was about the different stages and mental thoughts a person
has during those long 9 months. I have gone through 2 pregnancies and can relate to all the different
metaphors used. It is a very descriptive and clever poem. I will honest in saying, I was glad the "Writer's Guide" was available to help dissect the different metaphors.

Leaning to Blog
I am a firm believer in learning new things, in the English class I have had a refresher course on alot of new tools that are available on the net. I look forward to blogging with everyone, even some of my friends from
the Monday and Wednesday English Class. It is another form of networking that is availbale to us. I think I am going to enjoy sharing with all of you and await your reponses to my posts.

The story of "My Two Lives" by Jhumpa Lahiri
I enjoyed reading this short story. Jhumpa Lahiri reminded me of myself in alot of different aspects. I too come from a different heritage and now that I am a mom it is very important to me to teach my daughters theirs. In the story she mentions the day when her parents will no longer be around and how that part of family and tradition will begin to disappear. I experienced this with the passing of my father 11 years ago. Before his death, we had alot of family gatherings weekly and the holidays were over the top. Now we simply get together out of obligation and there is always someone absent with a prior commitment. I would also agree with the story when she speaks of her appreciation of her heritage at a middle age versus her adolescent years. I believe that wisdom and appreciation come with age.
My First Post
This is my first post on a blog in Hamon's English class, I'm not sure if I like it yet, it's too soon to tell.
